Wednesday night at Time Rift Arcade turned into a full-on nerd showdown. Teams packed in for four rounds that swung from a galaxy far, far away to a shagadelic 1960s spy romp, then straight into paranormal investigation before finishing on a movie round that spanned six decades. Star Wars opened strong, Austin Powers got loud, Ghostbusters separated the casual fans from the obsessives, and Name that Movie came down to the wire. Some tables cleaned up. Star Wars kicked things off and set the tone fast. The early questions were the kind most tables could answer without blinking, then the round quietly got mean with deep-cut planets, one very specific piece of Imperial hardware, and a stat about an actor most fans have never bothered to check. Newer material from the streaming era showed up too, so teams that stopped watching after the original trilogy started falling behind. The room was surprisingly split on a couple of answers everyone assumed were free points. Twenty questions, plenty of arguing.

Austin Powers brought the volume up. This round rewarded anyone who has quoted these movies at a party, because half of it came down to remembering exact lines, exact character names, and exactly how gross a couple of those scenes really were. There were questions about Dr. Evil’s inner circle, Fat Bastard’s appetites, and one multiple-choice curveball on the corporate side of the operation. Teams that only remembered the first movie left points on the table. Yeah, baby.

Ghostbusters was the round where the true believers pulled ahead. It stretched across the original, the sequel, Afterlife, and Frozen Empire, so anyone treating this as a one-movie category got buried early. Equipment, agencies, architects, and a couple of very specific lines of dialogue all showed up. There were also questions about the business side of the Ghostbusters, which more than one table completely forgot existed. Great round, high scores at the top, rough scores at the bottom.

Name that Movie closed the night with clues only, no titles. Teams got a year, a plot summary, and sometimes an actor, then had to come up with the film. The range was wide: 1940s classics, 1980s action, monster movies, teen comedies, and a couple of family favorites that had people snapping their fingers trying to remember the name. A few came instantly. A few sat there mocking entire tables until time ran out. Solid finish to the night.
