SEGA Genesis Hidden Game!

Let’s take a look at Pitfall Mayan Adventure for the Sega Genesis. This game came out in 1994 on the Genesis and Super Nintendo.

This is a well made game that appeared during the peak of these system’s popularity. It’s a great game and clearly has its roots in the original Pitfall by David Crane that came out in 1982.

Now, I want to show you one of the coolest easter eggs ever. When you are at the main menu, press down on the D-pad, then press the A button 26 times, you know for Atari 2600, and then press down again. And what do you know, you get the original 1982 version of Pitfall and it’s completely playable.

In fact, let’s compare it with the Atari 2600 I have right next to the Genesis. Some of the colors are slightly off, but otherwise it’s a great match! Unfortunately, neither of our multi-carts have this game on it, but if you come by you can ask for the cartridge and we can get it out of the back room. By the way, in case you didn’t know, customers are always welcome to bring their own game cartridges for our consoles we have setup.
